Exceptional experience all round  *****

This is an exceptional property in an idyllic setting, we had a fabulous stay here and couldn't recommend it highly enough. The whole property is exceptionally well appointed with every detail and need catered for which provided a great sense of home from home. The kitchen was a hit in particular in our party due to the thorough thought that has gone into ensuring it is thoroughly and properly equipped with nothing left wanting. Our group consisted of 3 small children and two sets of grandparents as well as myself and my wife; we had plenty of individual space and great communal areas. We arrived late Sunday evening and Elena and Amar could not have been more welcoming or accommodating, they strike a wonderful balance of being on hand to help without ever feeling as though they were encroaching. Something worth noting is how much nicer the salt water pool is over a chlorinated pool, everyone commented on this. (Amar makes for a great pool boy too!) The area is wonderful to with lots to do for all ages and Elena and Amar were great and offering suggestions and advice. I'd recommend this property to anyone looking for something special to spoil themselves with.

Amazing property in a beautiful location *****

This is an absolutely stunning house set in an idyllic countryside location. The accommodation is huge but as there were only of two of us we only used the master bedroom and living area on the ground floor. The master bedroom alone was like a hotel suite with king size bed, sitting area, ensuite bathroom and walk in wardrobe. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is also a large separate utility room. The outside space is massive and very private, surrounded by walnut trees and wheat fields. The large terrace at the rear of the house is perfect for those relaxed barbecues stretching into the night over a few bottles of the local wine.
Amar and Elena are excellent hosts - on the night of our arrival we joined them for the Hunters' Dinner in the local village hall and later in the holiday spent a very enjoyable evening of golf and dinner at Les Crouquets.
A car is essential to get to shops and restaurants but the house is centrally located for exploring the many beautiful towns and villages in the region.
Many thanks Amar and Elena - can't wait until our next visit!

Stunning villa......incredible value ****

We booked a stay at la tour de genebre for a party of 8 which comprised of 6 adults and 2 children. None of us had visited the dordogne before and our expectations were quite low. We could not have been more wrong!! Upon arrival and seeing the villa the whole group were in complete awe of the property and the surroundings. All finishing touches had been carried out to a very high standard and this was matched by the warm welcome we received from Amar and Elena. The accommodation is beautiful and all rooms have been decorated tastefully with all the comforts of a warm home. Although the local amenities are really not that local it was never too much trouble to jump in the car and pop to Salignac or Sarlat for supermarket or a restaurant....the black duck in Salignac was a personal favourite of ours. Amar and Elena were great hosts and even invited us to take part in the inaugural golf tournament at les crouquets. Amar claimed to be rubbish......he won!!
Reluctantly we have only given 4 stars due to the pool not being heated* but this was only a problem for the faint hearted of us.

All in all we can say that we had a brilliant holiday and are already contemplating our return next year. We would highly recommend to our family and friends that a stay here is well worth the drive and the money!!!!

Superb La Genèbre *****

Probably for the first time in many years we found the house met and indeed exceeded our expectations. What you see in the photographs is what you get, what you get is a stunning property with exceptional facilities, furnishings ,fixtures and fittings. Amar and Elena have thought of everything, nothing disappointed apart from the weather, but that is nothing to do with the hosts!!

Fantastic house in a beautiful setting. Everything we needed was there in the house and it was clean and spacious. We would love to stay here again.

Great getaway with the entire family *****

Great hosts, a lot of attention to detail. Everything is working and very well maintained. The teens loved especially the pool and table tennis table. We stayed with 10 people, 3 generations and everybody had a great time and enough space. Outdoor kitchen is great too. The weather was only to cool to fully enjoy the pool at this time of year. Great area to venture out and enjoy all that the Dordogne has to offer.

Did someone mention the oyster knife?  *****

This is an absolutely brilliant villa and has everything you need for a great holiday. It’s beautifully presented with modern bathrooms, nice furniture and lots of lighter coloured timbers, plus a wood burner for the cooler months. The outside space is good - the pool is heated and has a retractable cover which was a bonus as we were a party of eight including two small children. We ate outside in the covered dining space most of the time and cooked barbie food on the gas griddle (there’s also a traditional BBQ if you don’t mind the faff). But where it scores hands down - and we’ve stayed In quite a few holiday rentals - is the attention to detail. This includes: an abundance of soap powder and stain remover in the laundry room; a tumble dryer as well as washing machine if it’s too wet to dry stuff outside; a shoe cleaning kit (does anyone clean shoes on holiday?); a wooden sewing box; plastic picnic plates, beakers etc; and a couple of jars of chocolate coated caramels and nougats for guests to enjoy. The kitchen is well equipped with lots of glasses, pans, serving dishes etc - there’s even a stick blender and yes, that oyster knife. The owners Amar and Elena live relatively near - they used to run a small hotel in Scotland before heading to the sunnier climes of the Dordogne several years ago. They offer a home dining service whereby they cook delicious food, can provide the wines if requested, clear up and can offer some insights into French life if you are curious, as we were. It was 35 Euros per head and an extra 15 per bottle of good quality wine. Great tasting food beautifully presented and no driving required! You have to be prepared to drive to local shops. There are some delightful towns and villages, including Montignac, within a 40 minute ride. We couldn’t fault the villa but alas, we never did find any oysters nearby!
